Why I Created “The Eating Artist”
A Safe Space for Every Creator
In a world that constantly demands results, it’s easy for artists to feel lost, undervalued, or unsure of their place. That’s exactly how I felt when I first envisioned Eating Artist. I wanted to build more than just a brand—I wanted to create a safe, nurturing space where all kinds of artists could feel seen, inspired, and celebrated. Whether you’re a chef perfecting your latest recipe, a writer exploring uncharted narratives, or someone like me—a multifaceted creator navigating various forms of art—I wanted Eating Artist to be a home for you.
The Birth of Eating Artist
The concept of Eating Artist was born from a deep desire to change the narrative around what it means to be an artist. You’ve heard it before: “The starving artist.” It’s this badge of honor, this romanticized struggle that people associate with pursuing your passion. But let me tell you—I've never wanted that life, not for a second. That’s not my story, and it’s not the story I want for anyone else who chooses to create.
When I came up with Eating Artist, it was a deliberate rejection of the idea that you have to suffer or live in scarcity to be taken seriously as an artist. Why can’t we create and thrive? Why can’t we pursue our craft and still enjoy life’s luxuries, whether that’s a $7 latte or peace of mind knowing we’re able to pay our bills? I didn’t want to build a brand that glamorized the struggle—I wanted to create a movement that says, “We deserve to eat. We deserve to flourish.”
This philosophy runs deep in me. I grew up watching my bald-headed dad (a man who epitomizes hard work and perseverance) enjoy his little indulgences and take care of his family, and that mindset shaped me. I want to have my cake and eat it too—literally and metaphorically. Eating Artist symbolizes the freedom to pursue your dreams without sacrificing the quality of your life. It’s about refusing to settle for a life of creative scarcity when abundance is possible.
This brand is for the artists who want more than just survival. It’s for those who believe that art and fulfillment don’t have to be mutually exclusive. You can love what you do, chase your passion, and still live a life that nourishes your soul, your body, and your bank account. Here, we don’t wear “starving” as a badge of honor. We’re eating, we’re thriving, and we’re rewriting the script for what it means to be a successful artist.
The name itself is symbolic. To “eat” as an artist represents so much more than food—it’s about feeding your craft, staying creatively nourished, and thriving in the pursuit of your passion. Around here, we don’t just create—we eat.
Lessons from Stopping and Starting Again
Truthfully, this isn’t my first attempt at building Eating Artist. I started before, but I stopped when it seemed like nothing was happening. I’ve since learned that great things take time, persistence, and patience.
For as long as I can remember, consistency has been a battle for me. I’m someone who loves immediate results. If I write something, I immediately want to shoot it. If I eat a salad, I immediately want to wake up skinny. When I work out, I want to see abs by the end of the session. I tend to live in the space between creativity and impatience, craving instant gratification even in the areas that demand slow, deliberate effort.
This journey has forced me to face that challenge head-on. Searching for your dreams, especially in an industry like entertainment, is one of the most ungratifying things you can do. It’s cliché, but it’s true. This career demands patience and consistency, even when the results seem invisible. I’ve had to learn what it means to keep going, even when nothing appears to be moving. The slow progress, the doubts, the quiet moments—it’s all part of the process.
Now, with a clearer purpose and renewed determination, I’m back to bring this dream to life—not just for me but for every artist out there searching for their tribe.
A Safe Space for All Artists
For so much of my life as an artist, I felt like I had to fit into a specific box to get where I wanted to go. It was as if being multifaceted—someone who loves to act, write, direct, and create—was a liability rather than a strength. I constantly found myself narrowing my focus to please others or to match what I thought the industry wanted. There were moments I felt like I had to dull parts of myself, hide my full potential, or fit into a mold that just wasn’t me.
Artistry, though, should be the one place where you feel completely free to express yourself. It should be the safe haven where you can bring all the layers of who you are without fear of judgment or being told you’re “too much.” Whether you’re a chef who creates edible art, a poet who pours their soul onto the page, or someone like me who thrives on doing a little bit of everything, your artistry deserves to reflect your authentic self.
We’ll get deeper into my personal journey of struggling to embrace myself in a future blog, but for now, I want to leave you with this: The Eating Artist is a space where you’re celebrated for everything you bring to the table. This is a home for those who refuse to dim their light, who want to create without limits, and who deserve a space to eat, breathe, and thrive as their whole, unapologetic selves.
Eating Artist is more than a brand; it’s a movement. It’s a space where no one has to feel like their art is “too niche” or “not enough.” Whether you’re a painter, a musician, a photographer, or someone who expresses themselves through food, this is your space to thrive.
I want Eating Artist to feel like home—a brand you’re proud to represent and a community you’re excited to be part of. I want to celebrate your art, your process, and the unique journey you’re on. Because here, every artist eats.
